FAILURE REDICULOUS TERRIBLE WONDERFUL March 10- March 30, 2007 Opening March 10th 6-10 pm pictures from the opening A presentation of video and performance-based artwork by My Barbarian Other Readings and Events: Park Projects is pleased to present a group exhibition that explores the positive aspects of failure. "Failure Ridiculous Terrible Wonderful" features works that can be characterized as privileging a heartfelt appreciation of the effort expended to realize a goal, even if the goal itself remains elusive or even unattainable, rather than the goal itself. Like the 1970s New Games phenomenon, it celebrates effort over effect, engagement over outcome. "Failure Ridiculous Terrible Wonderful" is being mounted in conjunction with the book Failure! Experiments in Aesthetic and Social Practices published by the Journal of Aesthetics and Protest Press (www.joaap.org). Additional related events include Heather Rogers reading from her book "The Natural History of Garbage", Friday 16 March at 7:30 at Machine Projects, 1200 D North Alvarado Street Los Angeles, CA 90026. 213-483-8761. Failure! book release event at Micheal Parkers Cold Storage March, 30th, 5th & Colyton St, Los Angeles, 90013. Special thanks to Colin Dickey, Kimberly Varella, and the Design/Media Arts program of UCLA. |
